The Washoe County Department of Building & Safety enforces nationally recognized codes and ordinances adopted by the Board of County Commissioners to assure that buildings are safe by providing plan check and inspection services for construction. These standards play a vital part in maintaining Washoe County's high quality of living and economic strength. County wide codes play a key role in assisting the construction industry in maintaining a level and consistant playing field. Our goal is to assist our customers by providing code information that can be used in constructing a safe and stable product.

Our New Permit Search Page is now available online. You can search for permits on a property either by Address, Assessor Parcel Number (APN) or by the Permit Number. The search results also include inspection results and comments for all active permits. This allows property owners and builders to access inspection corrections right from the web.

Effective May 11, 2009 the Washoe County Department of Building & Safety will be changing its Reno location office days of operation. Monday - CLOSED
Tuesday through Friday - 7:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. OPEN
Also effective March 1, 2009 the Washoe County Building & Safety's Incline Office will be closed. The last day the office at 855 Alder Way will be open to the public is February 26, 2009. Field inspections will continue as usual. Permit submittals and issuances will be made at the Reno office located at the Washoe County Complex, 1001 E. Ninth St, Reno, NV. Services in Incline will be available by advanced appointment only. |
