Applications for CAB Members Still Needed for Several CABs!
Although the 2011 CAB Annual Recruitment is over, there are still seats to be filled on several CABs. Applications are accepted at any time and are kept on file for a period of one year. For additional information or to receive an application via U.S. Postal Service or email, contact Andrea Tavener at 775.328.2720 or email cab@washoecounty.us.
The Washoe County Citizen Advisory Boards were created pursuant to NRS 244.1945 and Washoe County Code Section 5.425. Membership for each of the 14 boards ranges from five to nine members; each member is appointed to a two-year term by the County Commissioners. The boards study and give counsel on public issues, but are not responsible for the actual preparation of policies or programs. Their purpose is primarily to communicate ideas and concerns of local citizens to the County Commissioners, thus enabling the Commissioners to better do the job to which they were elected.

Link to Citizen Advisory Board Boundaries Maps: CABs advise the Washoe County Commissioners on neighborhood issues such as land use planning, water and sewer service, and recreation needs. The volunteer boards meet bimonthly (January, March, May, July, September and November), with the exception of the Gerlach/Empire CAB that meet four times a year (February, June, August and October), the Verdi Township/West Truckee Meadows CAB that meet monthly, and the Incline Village/Crystal Bay CAB that meets six times a year (February, May, June, July, August and November). Applicants must reside within the area represented by the CAB to be eligible for membership.
