Press Releases for Health
The Truckee Meadows may still be in store for more snow and cold weather, but March will bring enough wind to help clear out any smoke from wood burning stoves and fireplaces.
Annual flu season is in full swing, according to local health officials. And while increases in laboratory-confirmed flu cases and the number of people with influenza-like illness are expected this time of year, the Washoe County District Health Department (WCDHD) is seeing larger-than-expected numbers and continues to emphasize the importance of prevention.
Seek medical care immediately (call your doctor or go to an emergency room) if you or someone you know is experiencing any of the signs below. When you arrive, tell the reception staff that you think you have the flu. You may be asked to wear a mask and/or sit in a separate area to protect others from getting sick.
