Apply for County jobs online until midnight of the deadline date. |
| Online Application Process |
For new users, there are 4 steps. Tip: To assist in facilitating applying online, we strongly advise having application information, including education and employment history, readily available at time of applying. Returning users are not required to, and should not, re-register each time they apply for a position.
| |
Step 1 - Review Open Positions: Review the openings for the position(s) of interest. Each opening will contain additional information linked to the job title, and the job class specification linked to 'Job Description'. It may also include 'Required Additional Information'. Select the 'Apply Online' link for the position you want to apply for. You will then be redirected to the Washoe County Online Application logon screen. If you are a new user, go to Step 2 - Registration. If you are a returning user or Washoe County employee, skip to Step 3 - Apply for Jobs Online. Tip: We highly recommend that you open, review, and keep available any related job information associated to the job posting as it may be helpful when you apply. |
| |
Step 2 - Registration: Select 'Register Now...' on the logon screen. You will be redirected to the New Applicant Registration page where you will be asked to provide a user ID (a way of identifying yourself as a registered user), a password, your name, and a valid email address. Please make note of your password; the e-mail confirmation does not list your password. Once submitted, select the 'Continue' button on the registration screen to proceed to log on and apply for jobs online. Note: You will receive an email confirmation of your successful registration at the email address provided. Please note that all correspondence regarding your application and your status in the recruitment process will be via the email name and address that you have provided.
| |
Step 3 - Apply for Jobs Online: Log on with your user ID and password (*Washoe County employees see below). The online employment application will request you to provide information about your education and employment history, as well as information regarding your qualifications related to the position for which you are applying. Provide complete, detailed and thorough information. This information is reviewed to determine if you meet the qualifications for the position.
Note: You must complete and submit your application in the same session as the system will not allow you to save a partial application for completion at a later date; and will time-out after 45 minutes of inactivity. After submission, you will have the opportunity to attach supporting documentation (e.g. resume, etc.) to your online application in the following supported file formats: .doc, .pdf, .txt, and .rtf
| |
Step 4 - Application Confirmation: Upon completion and successful submission of your online application, you will be taken to a confirmation page stating, “Congratulations, your application was successfully submitted.” Please make note of your Applicant ID number provided. Additionally, a confirmation email will be sent to your registered email address. Your application will be reviewed and you will be contacted by Human Resources, via the email address you provided, approximately 2 weeks after the closing date for this job posting. Note: If you are using a public access computer, be sure to close out your web browser to ensure ending your user session.
After submitting, you will have the option to print your completed application by selecting 'Print Preview'. Tip: To optimally print the application, ensure that web browser page setup left and right margins are set to 0.2.
Note: Once the job announcement has closed, you will not be able to make changes to your employment application. You may however still make changes to the contact information on the application.
| Washoe County Employees Only* |
Do NOT go to 'New Applicant Registration': Washoe County employees do not need to register. Employees should use their ESS user name and password to log on to the online application. However, for those employees that do not have an ESS user name and password, you will need to register as a first time user.
The online application will automatically populate an employee's work/County email address in the 'Email Address' field. To have electronic communications sent to a different email address, simply enter another email address in the 'Email Address' field.
Use of Washoe County Employee Number: If you are a current Washoe County employee you will be asked to provide your employee number when submitting your application online. If you do not know your employee number (personnel number), you can find it on the top of your remuneration statement under your name or in your Employee Self Service (ESS) "Time Recording" screen. Your employee number is NOT your badge number.
De Minimus Use: NRS 281.481 (7) and Washoe County Code Section 5.340 allow personal use of County computers for 30 minutes per workweek of non-work time. Upon compliance with this provision, it is County policy to allow personal use to occur during an officer's or employee's meal period, but not rest breaks. An employee shall notify his or her supervisor when the employee's personal use occurs during the employee's authorized meal period.
