New Employee Orientation
The Washoe County New Employee Orientation (NEO) is designed to welcome new employees, introduce them to working at the County and provide them with information that is critical to successful employment with the organization. The one day program includes:
- Overview of County Mission, Vision, Values and Strategic Priorities
- Introduction to organizational structure and functions
- Introduction to the employee performance and development process
- Overview of the benefits of County employment
- Introduction to technology and Employee Self-Service (ESS) and time entry for payroll
New Employee Orientation - every other month on the 3rd Wed. from 8:00 AM-5:00 PM.

ID Badges New employees needing pictures taken for ID badges, may go to Public Works - Engineering (Building A, 2nd Floor) - Monday - Friday 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM. They will need an authorization form (ID Badge - Acknowledgement and Issuance Form - see below) and photo ID.
Fingerprinting New employees needing fingerprints taken, may go to Human Resources - every other month on the 3rd Thursday (coinciding with New Employee Orientation) from 11:00 AM - 1:00PM. They will need an authorization form (Fingerprint Request Form - see below) and photo ID.
Policy Training All New Employees (including Intermittent, Part Time Employees and Interns) are required to take mandatory WC Policy Training (Sexual Harassment and Harassment & Discrimination). Supervisors and Managers are required to take WC Policy Training- For Supervisors. Both of these classes fulfill the mandatory two-year training requirement for all Washoe County employees. These classes are offered every other month on the 3rd Thursday (coinciding with New Employee Orientation).
Defensive Driver's Training New Employees who will be driving on county business either in a County vehicle or private vehicle are required to take Defensive Driver's Training. These classes are offered monthly.
