The public will get a chance to hear from both public and private partners about ways that we’ve become a more pet friendly community since voters in 2002 decided that animal services should be regionalized under Washoe County and a new animal facility built and shared by Washoe County and the Nevada Humane Society.

The Washoe County Registrar of Voters Office was recognized as a finalist for the prestigious International Association of Clerks, Recorders, Election Officials and Treasurers (IACREOT) Eagle Award for the voter passport system at the organization’s conference this summer in San Francisco.
Washoe County is seeking individuals interested in serving on the Washoe County Animal Control Board (WCACB) to fill an unexpired term through December 31, 2011. All citizens living in Washoe County Commission District 1 are encouraged to apply for the vacated WCACB seat.
Washoe County received notice of being selected for an award of $2,046,730 in American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) funds to directly support fire services in the Sierra Fire Protection District (SFPD) area.
Washoe County is seeking individuals interested in serving on the Planning Commission. Citizens living in the unincorporated portion of Washoe County Commission District 2 are encouraged to apply for the vacated Planning Commission seat. Commission District 2 is the area south of the Truckee River and is represented by Commission Chairman David Humke.
