Featured 2Truckee Meadows Trails Guide: A new regional trails guide focusing on the Truckee Meadows vicinity is available in pdf format on our website. Just scroll down this page and click the link below. Reno, Sparks and Washoe County staff worked together to create this guide as a service to our residents and guests. Major funding came from a Federal Highway Administration Recreational Trails Program Grant, along with support from the RSCVA, St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center and Scheels. Featured 3Family Golf Days return to Washoe Golf: On Family Golf Days, young golfers 17 and under play nine holes free with one paying adult. Washoe Golf professionals will be available on the putting green and the driving range to provide tips, and clubs will be available for use by newcomers to the game. Family Golf Days will be offered every month through September at Washoe Golf Course. In addition, the course will offer a number of special events as part of the PGA’s Play Golf America initiative. Featured 4Dogs get their Day at the Melio Gaspari Water Play Park: Friendly, social dogs are invited to enjoy a day of splashing around among the park’s many cool water features from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 29, 2010. Contests will be held at 2 pm for “Best Swimwear,” “Coolest Dog,” and “Biggest Smile.” All dogs must be leashed and current on all vaccinations, including rabies. Limit of two dogs per person. The water play park is located in Lazy 5 Regional Park, 7100 Pyramid Lake Highway, Spanish Springs. Contact (775) 424-1865.
featured 5Wild Women Artists return to the Wilbur D. May Museum: 15 extraordinary women artists from throughout the Great Basin return to the museum for thier annual show. A "sneak preview" exhibit opens on September 9. Wild Women Weekend, which includes a Friday night artists reception, weekend show and sale and other special events, will take place from October 22 through 24.
