Defensible Space Program
The Sierra Fire Protection District provides an opportunity for District residents to have their homes and property evaluated for suggested improvements to make their homes more fire safe. Wildland fires pose a significant threat to most homes within the Sierra Fire Protection District, and many homes are unnecessarily lost each year. The SFPD strongly urges residents to take proactive steps to make their home more defensible in the event of a wildfire. Following these inspections, homeowners are given suggestions for improving the safety of their homes for their families as well as firefighters.
