Mission Statement:The mission of the Sierra Fire Protection District - Training Division is to provide District and Volunteer Fire Department Personnel with the best possible training required to meet all state, federal, and district requirements. This training is delivered based upon continuous evaluation of District personnel and the effectiveness of the training provided.
Overview:
The training division provides training and education for mandated training programs required by District, local, state, and federal regulations on a monthly basis. It also provides and maintains certification for all suppression-related personnel in accordance with OSHA, NFPA, and DMV standards.
The Sierra Fire Protection District is a Partnering Agency in the Regional Public Safety Training Center. As a partnering agency, the Sierra Fire Protection District works together with the regions other fire agencies to provide quality education to the District personnel utilizing the latest educational tools available at the Training Center.
The SFPD provides seasonal fire academies for Seasonal Firefighters in the Districts Fuels Management Program. Additionally, fire related training is provided for selected County employees when required.

Career Personnel
The Training Division continuously evaluates training needs for the personnel of the Sierra Fire Protection District in coordination with the Operations Division of the District. We have found that with close cooperation between divisions, personnel perform in a safe and efficient manner.
Training delivery methods include monthly scheduled procedural refreshers, multi-engine company drills, multi-agency drills, classroom and professional development programs. This training ensures that the communities served by the Sierra Fire Protection District receives competent and professional services.
Volunteer Personnel
On a monthly basis, the Training Division, in coordination with the Reno Fire Department, provides fire suppression and emergency medical training to the Volunteer Departments supported by both agencies.
